Student Visas

International students are required to obtain a student visa to study in Singapore. Once you get your letter of approval, you will also be issued a visa by your institution. Singapore has four official languages: English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil. As Singapore is a multi-cultural society, you can expect to hear other languages being spoken.

Knowing English is a must if you want to study in Singapore as higher institutions here mainly offer only in English. This includes written examinations, and course materials.


In major institutions like universities (NUS, NTU, SMU, etc.), communication is essential especially for class announcements, group projects. We recommend you to install WhatsApp and Telegram on your phone if you have not. If you are communicating with the locals, these two messaging apps are essential.
